TORONTO (AP) -Los Angeles Kings defenseman Sean O’Donnell has been suspended five games, including the first two of the regular season, for a match penalty during a preseason game against the New York Islanders.
The NHL announced the suspension Wednesday after O’Donnell was penalized in the previous night’s game for a cross-check on the Islanders’ Matt Martin.
O’Donnell will miss Los Angeles’ final three preseason games and will be eligible to return in the Kings’ third game of the season, against Minnesota on Oct. 8.
