RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) The Carolina Hurricanes have agreed to terms for a two-year contract extension with forward Elias Lindholm.
The deal will pay the 20-year-old former first-round draft pick $2.5 million in the 2016-17 season and $2.9 million in 2017-18.
Lindholm had career-highs of 17 goals, 22 assists and 39 points in 81 games last season, ranking him third on the team in goals scored and tied for third in assists. Carolina drafted Lindholm, who has now played 139 regular-season games with the franchise, with the fifth overall pick in the 2013 draft.
Team executive vice president and general manager Ron Francis says in a statement that Lindholm will be ”a very important part” of the franchise as he continues his development.
