NEW YORK (AP) – Hobey Baker Award finalist Kevin Hayes agreed to terms on a free-agent contract with the New York Rangers on Wednesday.
The 22-year-old forward had 27 goals and 38 assists this past season with Boston College, making him a finalist for the Hobey Baker that is awarded to the top player in collegiate hockey.
Hayes, 6-foot-5 and 225 pounds, was named to the NCAA East All-American first team and Hockey East’s first All-Star team after he set career-highs in goals, assists, power-play goals (six), and game-winning goals (six).
