DETROIT (AP) -A Russian hockey league is completing a contract with Detroit Red Wings forward Jiri Hudler.
The Kontinental Hockey League registered Hudler’s two-year, $10 million contract in Moscow on Thursday morning.
The KHL previously filed Hudler’s contract July 9, but held off on the deal pending negotiations between the two leagues.
A statement from the KHL cites the NHL’s attempt to sign KHL players as a reason for the filing.
Hudler’s agent and Red Wings representatives attended a salary arbitration hearing Thursday morning in Toronto. The result of that hearing will determine Hudler’s future contractual obligation to the Red Wings.
Detroit general manager Ken Holland says the team expects a ruling in the next few days.
