ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -The Minnesota Wild bought out the remaining three years of Mark Parrish’s contract on Wednesday.
It was an abrupt end to a disappointing return home for the hard-nosed winger. Parrish starred at Bloomington Jefferson High School and St. Cloud State University before playing his first seven years in the NHL with Florida, the Islanders and Los Angeles.
He signed a five-year deal worth more than $13 million to come home to the Wild in 2006. But he was bothered by injuries and never seem to fit in coach Jacques Lemaire’s system in two years here.
Parrish scored 35 goals and had 34 assists with the Wild. He is now a free agent and free to sign anywhere.
