SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) -The San Jose Sharks signed veteran defenseman Alexei Semenov on Friday. Semenov played for the Florida Panthers last season.
The 26-year-old defenseman had five assists and 32 penalty minutes in 23 games for the Panthers. The Russian began the season playing for Ufa Salavat Yulayev in Russia where he had one goal and two assists in 23 games. He also played in four games for the Rochester of AHL.
The four-year veteran of the NHL was originally drafted by Edmonton in the second round in 1999. He's played in 142 NHL games and tallied five goals and 16 assists.
