CHICAGO (AP) -A day after being demoted from general manager to team adviser, Dale Tallon says he still wants to help the Chicago Blackhawks win the Stanley Cup.
Tallon says the Blackhawks are in his blood after three decades with the team. He helped rebuild the franchise and last season they advanced to the Western Conference finals.
The Blackhawks ousted Tallon and promoted assistant GM Stan Bowman on Tuesday. Missing a deadline to file qualifying offers to restricted free agents last week might have sealed Tallon’s fate.
Tallon says he has a good relationship with team president John McDonough. He says McDonough wanted to take the team in another direction.
