EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) -The Edmonton Oilers signed defenseman Matt Greene to a two-year deal.
Greene, a native of Grand Ledge, Mich., had one goal and nine assists in 78 games last year in his first full NHL season. The 24-year-old Greene led the Oilers in penalty minutes with 109, and was second on the team in hits and blocked shots.
He played for the United States at the world championships in Russia, where he recorded two assists.
The signing was announced Wednesday by the team. Financial terms were not released.
