PHILADELPHIA (AP) -The Philadelphia Flyers agreed to multiyear deals with defenseman Randy Jones and forward Riley Cote on Wednesday, keeping two key players who helped them reach the Eastern Conference finals.
Jones agreed to a two-year contract, and Cote signed a three-year deal.
``Randy is a young player and key component of our defensive core, and can play in any type of situation,'' Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren said. ``Riley has developed tremendously over the course of last season and will continue to be an important part of this team moving forward.''
Jones had five goals and 31 points in 71 games for the Flyers last season. He set career highs for goals, assists, points and games played.
Cote had a goal and four points in 70 regular-season games, while leading the team with 202 penalty minutes (fourth in the NHL) last season.
