RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -The Carolina Hurricanes will keep their coaching staff together after their run to the Eastern Conference finals.
The team says it has agreed to terms with coach Paul Maurice on a multiyear contract. In addition, Ron Francis will return as associate head coach and take on the title of director of player personnel.
Assistant coaches Kevin McCarthy and Tom Rowe will remain, while Tom Barrasso will also take the title of assistant coach.
Terms were not disclosed on Maurice’s contract.
The Hurricanes made the playoffs for the first time since winning the Stanley Cup in 2006. They upset New Jersey and Boston in seven-game series before being swept by eventual Cup champion Pittsburgh in the conference finals.
