VOORHEES, N.J. (AP) -Goaltender Ray Emery has agreed to a one-year contract with the Philadelphia Flyers.
Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren announced the agreement at a news conference Wednesday. The free agent signing period opens July 1.
The 26-year-old Emery spent last season in Russia with Atlant Mytischi of the Kontinental Hockey League, posting a 22-8-0 record with a 2.12 goals-against average. Ottawa waived the temperamental goalie last year after he was repeatedly late to practice and squabbled with teammates.
With the Senators, Emery had a 71-40-14 record with a 2.71 goals-against average in parts of five seasons. He helped Ottawa reach the Stanley Cup finals in 2007.
