ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) -The Washington Capitals signed 2007 first-round draft pick Karl Alzner to a three-year entry-level contract Thursday.
The 19-year-old defenseman was the No. 5 overall pick in last year's draft. He recently completed his fourth season with the Calgary Hitmen of the Western Hockey League and was named the WHL player of the year.
Alzner will attend the Capitals' summer development camp in July.
