DENVER (AP) -Hall of Fame goaltender Patrick Roy is denying being offered the Colorado Avalanche’s coaching job.
The Denver Post reported Monday that Roy had been offered Tony Granato’s job as coach and was mulling the offer. The Avalanche declined comment on the report, which cited anonymous league sources.
A spokeswoman for the junior league team Roy co-owns and coaches told The Associated Press Roy had not received an offer from his old NHL team.
Roy met with Avs president Pierre Lacroix in Denver earlier this month after general manager Francois Giguere was fired following the team’s worst showing since moving from Quebec to Denver in 1995.
