NEW YORK (AP) -Detroit’s Chris Chelios, the NHL’s oldest player at 47, joined Nashville’s Steve Sullivan and Florida’s Richard Zednik on Thursday as finalists for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy.
The award, named in honor of late Minnesota North Stars player Bill Masterson, is given to “the player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey.” The winner will announced June 18 in Las Vegas.
Sullivan returned to the Predators this season after missing almost two full years because of a back injury. Zednik had 17 goals in 70 games, a season after his carotid artery was sliced by a teammate’s skate blade in Buffalo.
