ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) – The St. Louis Blues pulled goalie Jake Allen from Game 6 after the Minnesota Wild scored their second goal.
The Wild took a 2-0 lead with 8:41 remaining in the second period Sunday when Justin Fontaine’s shot glided between the rookie’s pads, and coach Ken Hitchcock summoned veteran Brian Elliott.
Zach Parise scored first for Minnesota, another save Allen could have made. The bad-angle snap by Parise slipped between the post Allen’s arm right arm and into the far side of the net. Hitchcock debated before the series whether to start Allen or Elliott, both of whom had strong seasons.
Both Chicago (Scott Darling, in favor of Corey Crawford) and Calgary (Jonas Hiller, in favor of Karri Ramo) pulled goalies from games Saturday. Both teams rallied to win.
Minnesota leads the series 3-2.
