VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) -Canucks defenseman Mattias Ohlund returned to the lineup Saturday night and scored a goal against the St. Louis Blues, just three days after an MRI showed he had bone chips in his left knee that threatened to end his season.
Ohlund, who led Vancouver defensemen with 22 points in 50 games coming in, said Thursday he was going to rest four to six days to see if the swelling went down before deciding if he will have arthroscopic surgery, which would have kept him out for the rest of the regular season.
But he felt good enough to skate Saturday morning and was on the ice against the Blues, scoring his ninth goal of the season on a power play early in the first period.
The Canucks also announced Saturday that veteran defenseman Aaron Miller would miss seven to 10 days with a bruised right shoulder after being checked by Nashville's Jordin Tootoo late in Thursday's 6-2 win over the Predators.
Also, defenseman Kevin Bieksa, who injured his wrist in a fight against Nashville played Saturday.
Nathan McIver was recalled from Manitoba of the AHL in case Bieksa or Ohlund couldn't play, but was a healthy scratch and will be sent back to the minors.
