 BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) -Sabres forward Clarke MacArthur was demoted to Buffalo's minor-league affiliate in Rochester on Thursday, opening a roster spot for the anticipated return of veteran Jochen Hecht.
MacArthur had been a healthy scratch for three games before returning to the lineup in a 3-1 loss to Washington on Wednesday. He had 15 points (eight goals, seven assists) in 37 games with Buffalo this season, but was limited to two goals and two assists in his past 15 games.
Hecht has been cleared to practice after missing seven games with a groin injury and could return for the Sabres' next game at Carolina on Saturday.
