ST. LOUIS (AP) -Detroit Red Wings forward Marian Hossa was taken off the ice while strapped to a gurney after getting checked into the boards in the first period of Tuesday night’s game against the St. Louis Blues.
The game was delayed for several minutes while medical personnel attended to Hossa, the Red Wings’ leading scorer with 34 goals and 27 assists in 61 games. There was no immediate word on the extent of the injury.
Hossa returned to the lineup after missing two games with a neck injury. He was knocked to the ice and slid heavily into the end boards after a hit by defenseman Roman Polak, who drew a two-minute penalty for roughing.
