BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) -Buffalo Sabres center Jochen Hecht is doubtful for Saturday’s game against the New York Rangers because of a pulled leg muscle.
Sabres coach Lindy Ruff said Hecht was day-to-day. Hecht likely got hurt late in Buffalo’s 5-1 win over Toronto on Thursday night after playing more than 18 minutes.
Hecht, the captain for February, ranks fifth on the team with 37 points, but has been held without a point the past five games.
Centers Paul Gaustad and Derek Roy and left wing Thomas Vanek participated in Buffalo’s pre-game skate Saturday after missing Friday’s practice. They should be available to play against the Rangers.
The surging Sabres, 10-2-2 in their last 14 games, called up forward Marc-Andre Gragnani from their AHL affiliate in Rochester to replace injured forward Michael Ryan, who is out with a groin injury. Gragnani will likely make his NHL debut on Saturday.
