RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -Hurricanes captain Rod Brind’Amour will have reconstructive surgery on a torn ligament in his left knee and will likely miss the rest of the season.
Dr. Marty Isbell is scheduled to perform the surgery at Rex Hospital at 3 p.m. Friday.
Brind’Amour tore his left anterior cruciate ligament during a collision early in Thursday night’s 4-2 victory over Pittsburgh. He entered the game with a team-leading 51 points.
He was sandwiched by the Penguins’ Nathan Smith and Georges Laraque near the boards at the center line just 1 1/2 minutes into the game.
