COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -The Columbus Blue Jackets assigned goaltender Steve Mason to his juniors team in Kitchener on Sunday.
Mason was recalled on Wednesday after Blue Jackets goalie Pascal Leclaire bruised his neck in a collision during a game against Washington the night before. Leclaire did not make the team’s trip to Phoenix and San Jose, with Mason backing up Fredrik Norrena. Mason did not see action.
Mason, 19, has a record of 22-6-3 with a 2.79 goals-against average, .914 save percentage and three shutouts in 31 OHL games with the Rangers and London Knights. He was Columbus’ second pick and 69th overall in the 2006 draft.
