PITTSBURGH (AP) -Pittsburgh Penguins forward Tyler Kennedy was suspended one game on Monday for leaving the bench to start a fight with Toronto defenseman Luke Schenn.
Kennedy was assessed a five-minute major penalty for the altercation, which occurred in the second period of Toronto’s 5-4 victory on Saturday night.
Kennedy will miss Pittsburgh’s game at Montreal on Tuesday and is eligible to return Wednesday against Tampa Bay.
Based on his average annual salary, Kennedy will forfeit $2,912.37. The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.
