NEWARK, N.J. (AP) -Erik Christensen had a goal and assist during Pittsburgh's three-goal second period, and the injury- and illness-plagued Penguins rallied from a pair of deficits to beat the New Jersey Devils 4-2 Tuesday night.
In the first game for both teams following the All-Star break, the Penguins defeated the Devils for the fifth straight time in New Jersey and they did it without forwards Sidney Crosby (ankle), Colby Armstrong (flu) and Tyler Kennedy (mononucleosis).
Jordan Staal got Pittsburgh even at 1 early in the second and Christensen and Ryan Malone struck less than 2 minutes apart to put the Penguins in front. Ty Conklin made 23 saves to improve to 11-2-2 since joining the team following Marc-Andre Fleury's ankle injury in December.
Malone added a power-play goal 5:21 into the third to make it 4-2 for the Penguins, 2-1-1 since Crosby's injury.
Mike Rupp scored two goals for the Devils and Martin Brodeur stopped 23 shots.
Coyotes 4, Blue Jackets 2
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Peter Mueller scored twice and Phoenix scored three third-period goals to beat Columbus.
The Coyotes won for the first time when trailing through two periods. They came in at 0-18-0 when trailing headed into the third period.
Mathias Tjarnqvist had an acrobatic, one-handed goal and Radim Vrbata added an empty netter for the Coyotes.
Fredrik Modin and Jason Chimera scored for the Blue Jackets, who had their franchise-record six-game home winning streak come to an end.
Senators 5, Islanders 2
UNIONDALE, N.Y. (AP) - Mike Fisher had a goal and assist for Ottawa, which who won for just the third time in eight games.
Andrej Meszaros, Chris Phillips, Dean McAmmond and Jason Spezza also scored for the Senators. Martin Gerber turned aside 23 shots for his 23rd win this season.
Trailing 3-0 in the third period, Sean Bergenheim and Bryan Berard scored for the Islanders, who are 1-3-1 in their last five games. All-Star goalie Rick DiPietro made 21 saves.
New York is winless in five straight games at home (0-4-1). The last time the Islanders went that long without a win at home was when they lost seven straight from Feb. 27-Mar. 29, 2001.
Bruins 3, Predators 1
BOSTON (AP) - Glen Metropolit scored a pair of third-period goals and Tim Thomas stopped 37 shots to lift Boston.
Marco Sturm scored his team-leading 17th goal for the Bruins, who posted their fifth win in seven games.
Alexander Radulov scored for the Predators and J.P. Dumont collected an assist, extending the league's longest current active point streak to 15 games.
Chris Mason made 25 saves for Nashville.
Hurricanes 3, Rangers 1
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - Rod Brind'Amour and Sergei Samsonov scored in the second period, and Trevor Letowski added an insurance goal in the third to give Carolina a win.
Cam Ward made 34 saves for the Southeast Division-leading Hurricanes, who have won three of four.
Brendan Shanahan scored for the Rangers. Goalie Henrik Lundqvist stopped 24 shots.
Sabres 4, Lightning 2
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Jason Pominville scored a goal and had two assists as struggling Buffalo won for just the fourth time in 16 games.
The Sabres have won nine of their last 10 against the Lightning, including six straight in Tampa.
Clarke MacArthur, Drew Stafford and Derek Roy also scored for Buffalo and Rayn Miller earned his 20th win with 23 saves.
Vaclav Prospal and Brad Richards scored for Tampa Bay.
Flyers 3, Kings 2, OT
PHILADELPHIA (AP) - A sliding Scott Hartnell kicked in a goal with 28.5 seconds left in overtime to lift Philadelphia.
The play was reviewed, but the referees determined Hartnell didn't intentionally kick the puck.
Simon Gagne and Braydon Coburn also scored and Martin Biron had 29 saves for Atlantic Division-leading Philadelphia, which won for the ninth time in 11 games.
Matt Moulson and Anze Kopitar had goals for the Kings, who haven't won in Philadelphia since March 23, 2000.
