WASHINGTON (AP) -The Washington Capitals are scoring and winning like no other team in the NHL.
The Capitals are averaging a half-goal more than anyone else – and outscoring opponents 41-18 during their eight-game winning streak.
The run of success has given the team its biggest-ever standings lead. The early Thursday standings had Washington 21 points ahead in the Southeast Division.
Coach Bruce Boudreau says winning leads to more confidence, which leads to more winning. The coach says his players are thinking they’re going to find a way to win, even if they don’t know how it’s going to happen.
