TAMPA, Fla. (AP) -Tampa Bay Lightning right wing Evgeny Artyukhin was suspended two games without pay by the NHL on Monday for a knee-to-knee hit in a game against Florida.
Artyukhin was given a tripping penalty after a late second-period collison with Panthers defenseman Ville Peltonen, who left Saturday’s game with a knee injury.
Artyukhin will lose $10,215.06 in pay, which will go to the players’ emergency assistance fund. In addition to Monday’s game with Dallas, Artyukhin will also miss Wednesday’s game against Buffalo.
Also, the Lightning claimed defensemam Cory Murphy off re-entry waivers from Florida.
Tampa Bay is currently playing without injured defensemen Paul Ranger (upper body), Marek Malik (ankle), Matt Smaby (lower body) and Jamie Heward (concussion).
