CALGARY, Alberta (AP) – Jarome Iginla missed the Calgary Flames’ first practice of the season on Sunday with a groin injury.
The captain watched from the owners’ box at the Scotiabank Saddledome while the rest of his teammates had their long-awaited first skate.
With the Flames set to open the season with back-to-back home games against the San Jose Sharks next Sunday and the Anaheim Ducks the following day, coach Bob Hartley said he didn’t want to take any chances with Iginla. But he expects Iginla to be cleared to get back on the ice with his teammates shortly.
