GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) - The Phoenix Coyotes made hockey in the desert cool again with their first run to the Western Conference finals last season. Landing a potential owner added to the momentum. Then everything came to a complete halt with the NHL lockout. Now that the lockout is over, the Coyotes are hoping to rekindle the interest they had worked so hard to gain in what was the most successful season in franchise history. A good start to the shortened season could certainly help and the Coyotes appear to be in good position to do just that. Phoenix kept most of its core from last year's team and most of its players spent the lockout playing hockey, either overseas or at well-attended informal workouts at the Ice Den in Scottsdale. |
