Nashville Hopes to Steal One on the Road in Edmonton

The Edmonton Oilers are unbeaten at home and they're making it look easy. To keep that streak going, they have to beat one of the league's hottest goaltenders.

Edmonton goes for its seventh straight home win to start the season Wednesday when it meets Tomas Vokoun and the Nashville Predators at Rexall Place.

Last season, the Oilers (7-4-0) were a better road team, recording 21 of 41 regular-season wins there en route to their first Western Conference title since 1990.

The New York Islanders have enjoyed facing the Chicago Blackhawks recently. No one seems to enjoy seeing them more than Alexei Yashin.

Yashin will try to help the Islanders continue their recent domination of the punchless Blackhawks as they face off Tuesday night at the Nassau Veterans' Memorial Coliseum.

New York (4-4-2) has won three straight games against Chicago, outscoring the Blackhawks 16-5.

The New York Rangers are on the road the majority of the next three weeks, but that's just fine with them.

The Rangers look to continue their strong play away from home when they visit the slumping Los Angeles Kings on Monday in the first meeting between the teams since 2003.

New York (5-5-0) kicked off its four-game trip with a 7-3 victory over Phoenix on Saturday, improving to 3-1 on the road this season. Jaromir Jagr led the way with a goal and three assists to bring his league-leading point total to 18.

Buffalo Sabres Fall Short of NHL Record

Team Page: Buffalo :: Atlanta
Goalie Ryan Miller and the Buffalo Sabres were finally reminded how disappointing losing can feel.

Then again, it's been a while.

Vyacheslav Kozlov scored the lone shootout goal and the upstart Atlanta Thrashers put an end to the Sabres' bid for an NHL record start with a 5-4 victory Saturday night. The loss ended Buffalo's season-opening winning streak at 10, the Sabres having to settle for sharing the league record for best start to a season set by Toronto in 1993.

``I haven't felt like this in a while. I'm a little ticked off,'' Miller said. ``It would have been fun to be on our own, a little piece of history. ... Every night's not going to go your way.''
