Red Wings Season Odds

It’s no surprise that oddsmakers favor the defending champion Detroit Red Wings again this season. Oddsmakers have established the Red Wings’ odds to win the 2009 Stanley Cup at 10/3.

The Wings might actually be better than they were a year ago, which might be a surprise since they led the league in points, wins, goals-against, shots per game and face-off percentage last year. The club went out and got top free agent Marian Hossa, which is dangerous considering Detroit already employs Henrik Zetterberg and Pavel Datsyuk.

The club is also hoping to see more of 21-year old center Darren Helm, who turned some heads during last year’s playoffs. Helm is first in line to eventually replace Kris Draper, so don’t expect the youngster to spend too much time down in the AHL again.

Bet Detroit Red Wings 2009 Stanley Cup Odds

Oddsmakers from online sports book SBG Global have listed the Red Wings’ odds to win the 2009 Stanley Cup at 3/1. Bodog has Detroit at 10/3, while Sportsbook.com gives the Wings a 10/3 shot.

What’s not to love about the Wings? This club is absolutely loaded and owns one of the best offenses, defenses, special teams and coaching staffs in the league. Their goaltending situation isn’t too shabby either and about the only thing standing in their way right now is history. It has been 11 years since a club has repeated as champions, but the good news for Detroit fans is that the last team that repeated was the Wings. There’s really nothing standing in their way right now and they’re a solid bet to repeat as Stanley Cup champions.
