Islanders crushed by Predators
New York lost by a count of 8-3 at home Tuesday night against Nashville to drop to 22-8-2 on the season. Brock Nelson tied it up at 1-1 for the Islanders 2:55 into the second period on an unassisted goal, while the hosts took a 2-1 advantage less than two minutes later on a Derick Brassard power play goal assisted by Anthony Beauvillier and Ryan Pulock. Casey Cizikas gave New York a 3-1 advantage on a shorthanded goal with 11:49 to go in the second with an assist going to Scott Mayfield. The Predators scored seven unanswered goals the rest of the way to overwhelm the Islanders. Thomas Greiss started between the pipes and gave up five goals on 15 shots before getting yanked. Semyon Varlamov allowed three additional goals on nine shots the rest of the way.
Bruins edged by Kings
Boston lost 4-3 at home Tuesday night in overtime against Los Angeles despite being big favorites to drop to 21-7-7 on the season. Danton Heinen evened it up at 1-1 for the Bruins with 59 seconds left in the first period on a power play goal assisted by Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak. After falling behind again in the second period, Boston tied it again at the 9:16 mark on a Patrice Bergeron goal off a Torey Krug assist. Brandon Carlo gave the Bruins a 3-2 lead 1:24 into the third period with a goal assisted by Jake DeBrusk and Heinen. The Kings tied it at 3-3 with 2:01 remaining and scored the game-winner 3:23 into the extra session. Tuukka Rask suffered the loss between the pipes as he surrendered four goals on 27 shots.
NHL Betting Trends
New York
The Islanders are 21-7 in their last 28 games overall. New York is 6-2 in its last eight games as a road underdog.
Boston
The Bruins are 1-6 in their last seven games overall. The road team is 17-7 in the last 24 meetings.
Prediction:
With the Bruins on the struggle bus lately and the road team having so much success in this series, I’m very interested on the plus money with the Islanders here. New York has mostly been solid as of late and will want to wipe the bad taste out of its mouth from the poor performance against Nashville. Look for the Islanders to tighten back up defensively and get some timely offense. There is risk involved in this bet, but I love the reward.
