Sharks earn win over Islanders
San Jose eased to a 4-1 home victory Saturday at home over New York. The Sharks scored twice in the second period to break a 1-1 tie and added another insurance goal in the third to put it away. Timo Meier, Joonas Donskoi, Brent Burns and Logan Couture each scored a goal in the win for San Jose. Couture and Donskoi also notched an assist, while Tomas Hertl dished out three assists. Martin Jones made 24 saves on 25 shots to pick up the win.
Predators shut out Oilers
Nashville improved to 7-1-0 on the season Saturday with a 3-0 victory at Edmonton. After a scoreless first period, the Predators scored twice in the second period and added another in the third. Viktor Arvidsson, Roman Josi and P.K. Subban each scored a goal to lead the way. Mattias Ekholm registered a pair of assists. Juuse Saros stopped all 31 shots sent his way to record the shutout.
NHL Betting Trends
San Jose
The over is 4-0 in the last four Sharks games versus the Central Division. San Jose is 1-5 in its last six games following a win.
Nashville
The Predators are 13-3 in their last 16 home games versus the Sharks. Nashville is 4-1 in the last five meetings.
Prediction:
Nashville will be without starting goalie Pekka Rinne tonight, but have the benefit of a solid backup in Saros and he is coming in hot after the shutout win. San Jose can’t seem to string together wins in the early going and I don’t see it matching the hosts tonight. Expect another big effort out of Saros coupled with another offensive support to back him.
