St. Louis secured a big road win Saturday night as it topped Toronto by a score of 4-1. The Blues broke it open with three second-period goals to go up 3-0, then put it away with a shorthanded goal by Ivan Barbashev with 1:43 remaining in the game. Robert Bortuzzo, Zach Sanford and Ryan O’Reilly scored the goals in the second period. David Perron dished out two assists in the victory, while O’Reilly added an assist to go with his goal. Jake Allen stopped 22 of 23 shots to notch the win.
Jets win at home over Coyotes
Winnipeg picked up a 5-3 home win Saturday night over Arizona to improve to 5-2-1 on the season. After falling behind 1-0 four-plus minutes in, the Jets scored three straight goals to take control. Blake Wheeler put it away with an empty-net goal in the third with 42 seconds remaining. Adam Lowry, Tyler Myers, Josh Morrissey and Mathieu Perreault added a goal apiece to contribute to the win. Jacob Trouba dished out three assists, while Kyle Connor had two assists. Morrissey and Myers each added an assist to go with their goal. Laurent Brossoit stopped 42 of 45 shots to pick up the win.
