Jackets trade for Brandon Saad
COLUMBUS, OH (The Spread) – The Blue Jackets are currently 33/1 to win the 2016 Stanley Cup after acquiring Brandon Saad in a seven-player deal with the Blackhawks.
Along with Saad, Columbus also received Michael Paliotta and Alex Broadhurst from Chicago, while the Hawks acquired Jeremy Morin, Corey Tropp, Artem Anisimovi, Marko Dano and a fourth-round pick in 2016.
Despite being one of the Blackhawks’ emerging young talents, Chicago was faced with cap issues and decided to deal the 22-year-old Saad instead of working out a contract. He is set to become a restricted free agent.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book GT Bets, the Blue Jackets are 33/1 to win the Cup while the Blackhawks are favored to repeat as champions at 11/2 odds. The Ducks, Rangers and Lightning have the next best odds at 10/1, respectively.
