The Blackhawks are the third seed in the Central Region, while the Wild are the No. 4 seed in the region. According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Chicago is the favorite to win this series, as the Blackhawks have odds of -340 to win, while the Wild has a money line of +270.

Chicago was 46-21-15 overall this season, racking up 107 points. The Blackhawks were 27-7-7 at home and 19-14-8 on the road. Chicago scored 267 goals this season while allowing 220. The 267 goals were the most of any team in the NHL this season. Chicago defeated the St. Louis Blues in the opening round of the playoffs. The Wild upset the Colorado Avalanche in the opening round of the playoffs, beating Colorado in seven. Minnesota won four of the final five games in the series.

These two teams met five times during the regular season, with Minnesota winning three of the five meetings. The home team also won three times. In the five games, the Wild scored a total of 14 goals, while Chicago posted 15 goals. The two hit the over in three of the five meetings and pushed in another contest.
