Updated NHL Eastern Conf. Odds
LAS VEGAS, NV (TheSpread) – The Eastern Conference didn’t feature any upsets in the opening round. Here is an updated look at the odds to win the East heading into the second round.
According to the latest oddsmakers, the New York Rangers are the favorite to win the East, as they have 5/4 odds. Other odds are the Montreal Canadiens (9/4), the Tampa Bay Lightning (10/3) and the Washington Capitals (9/2).
The Rangers beat the Pittsburgh Penguins in five games in the first round. New York has the home-ice edge for the rest of the playoffs and will face Washington in the second round. New York is seeking its third conference title, and second straight Eastern Conference championship.
The Canadiens defeated the Ottawa Senators in six games to start the playoffs. Montreal now meets the Tampa Bay Lightning in the second round and will have home-ice for the series. Montreal has won the conference title eight times, last doing so in 1993.
The Lightning beat the Detroit Red Wings in seven games to reach the second round. Tampa Bay now faces Montreal. The Lightning have won one conference title, which happened in 2004.
Washington beat the New York Islanders in seven games to open the playoffs. The Capitals face the Canadiens in the second round. Washington has won the conference title one time, which was in 1998.
