According to oddsmakers at, the Ducks are the slight favorite to win this series, as they have odds of -140 to win, while the Red Wings have been given a money line of +120 to win. Anaheim comes into the postseason as the second seed in the Western Conference while the Detroit Red Wings are the seventh seed in the West.

These two teams met three times during the regular season with the Red Wings getting the win in two of the three meetings. The road team picked up the victory in all three contests as well and dating back to the last 10 meetings, Detroit has won seven of the last 10 against Anaheim. In the last nine meetings, the winning margin has been at least two goals.
