New York evened the series with a 2-1 win over Montreal on Tuesday. Each team has now won once at home and on the road in this series. Montreal comes into tonight’s game with a 49-28-9 overall record and a 25-13-5 record at home. New York is now 50-29-7 overall and 28-12-3 on the road.
There wasn’t a ton of excitement to Game 4, as there were no goals over the last 35 minutes of play. Jesper Fast gave the Rangers a 1-0 lead midway through the first and Torrey Mitchell evened things up later in the period for the Habs. New York took the lead for good early in the second on a Rick Nash goal. The Rangers were the more aggressive team in the win, posting 32 shots to Montreal’s 24 and holding a 43-25 edge in hits.
If the Rangers that played on Tuesday can show up tonight, I like New York’s chances to steal a game on the road. New York can utilize its physicality and allow that to lead to more scoring opportunities. However, when push comes to shove, I trust Carey Price more than Henrik Lundqvist. When you add that Price is at home, I can’t pass up the Canadiens to win this crucial game.
