Pittsburgh edged out the Jackets for a 5-4 OT win in Game 3 on Sunday. The Penguins now hold a 3-0 lead in the series and they have won four straight over the Blue Jackets overall. Pittsburgh comes into tonight 53-21-11 overall and 20-15-7 on the road while the Blue Jackets are 50-26-9 overall and 28-12-2 at home.
The Blue Jackets held a 3-1 lead in Game 3, but the Penguins quickly erased that in the second period with goals from Bryan Rust and Evgeni Malkin. Jake Guentzel added a goal in the third to establish a 4-3 lead, but Brandon Dubinsky of the Jackets forced OT with a goal 15 minutes into the third. The game ended when Guentzel scored his fourth goal of the playoffs, 13:10 into OT. Pittsburgh finished with a 47-37 edge in shots and a 39-32 edge in faceoffs.
Bet on Penguins vs. Blue Jackets
Pittsburgh has certainly been the better team this series, but I am going to roll the dice on Columbus tonight. I think the Blue Jackets will play with a little pride and avoid being swept at home. The Jackets had a chance to escape with a win in Game 3 and let it get away, but I don’t think they will do the same today. Knowing Pittsburgh has at least two games at home to finish this series, I can see the Penguins keeping their foot off the gas a little tonight.
