Anaheim grabbed its second 3-2 win of the series on Saturday night. The Ducks now have a 2-0 lead in the series. The Ducks have now won five straight over Calgary and nine of the last 10 against the Flames. Calgary is 45-35-4 overall and 24-17 at home while Anaheim is 48-23-13 overall and 17-15-9 on the road.
The Ducks jumped out to a 2-0 lead in Game 2 as Jakob Silfverberg and Rickard Rakell scored in the first seven minutes of play. Mikael Backlund got a shorthanded goal to make in 2-1 to end the first. The Flames tied the game in the second when Sean Monahan scored. The Ducks got the game-winning goal in the third with under five minutes to play as Ryan Getzlaf found the net. The Ducks were outshot 37-29 in the win, but had a 40-28 edge in faceoffs.
The Duck have edged Calgary in two games in this series, but now have to win on the road. The Flames certainly could get a boost at home, but the Ducks have a little stronger defense and play in net than the Flames. That is important in the playoffs and why I like the Ducks to go up 3-0 tonight. Brian Elliott has really poor numbers against the Ducks and had a sub-.900 save percentage in Game 2.
