(TheSpread) – Two teams that aren’t accustomed to competing the NHL Playoffs meet up in the first round series as the Colorado Avalanche face the Minnesota Wild.

The Avalanche are the top seed in the Central region while Minnesota is the No. 4 seed According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, the Avalanche are favored to win the series, as they have odds of -145 to win, while the Wild have a money line of +125 to prevail.

Colorado is 52-22-8 on the season, earning a total of 112 points. The Avalanche went 26-11-4 at home and 26-11-4 on the road. Colorado had the most road wins of any team in the NHL. The Avalanche have scored 250 goals this season while allowing 220.

Minnesota is 43-27-12 on the season, earning 98 points. The Wild were 26-10-5 at home and 17-17-7 on the road. The Wild scored just 207 goals this season, while allowing only 206 goals.

These two teams met a total of five times during the season, with Colorado winning four of the five games. Two of the games were decided by a shootout. Colorado scored 16 goals in the five games while Minnesota posted 11 goals. The road team actually won three of the five games, including the Wild’s lone victory.
