Logan Couture made it 3-1 with 3:01 remaining in the first period off assists by Joe Pavelski and Erik Karlsson. Joe Thornton evened the score at 3-3 with 52 seconds left in the first on assists by Brenden Dillon and Evander Kane. The Golden Knights proceeded to score once each in the second and third periods to put it away. Martin Jones surrendered three goals on seven shots before getting yanked, while Aaron Dell had 14 saves on 16 shots the rest of the way.
Golden Knights even up series
Las Vegas lost its 3-0 advantage Friday night, but rebounded to claim a 5-3 win at San Jose to send the series back home even at a game apiece. Cody Eakin opened the scoring 58 seconds in off a Max Pacioretty pass to make it 1-0. Colin Miller added an unassisted shorthanded goal less than four minutes later. Pacioretty pushed the advantage to 3-0 at the 13:49 mark on an assist by Paul Stastny. The Sharks proceeded to score three times the rest of the first period to make it a 3-3 game. Just 1:31 into the second period, Mark Stone broke the tie on the power play with his third goal of the postseason. Assists went to Stastny and Alex Tuch. William Karlsson added an insurance shorthanded goal with 12:25 remaining in the third period off assists from Reilly Smith and Nate Schmidt. Marc-Andre Fleury registered 34 saves on 37 shots in the winning effort.
NHL Betting Trends
San Jose
The Sharks are 4-0 in their last four games as a road underdog. San Jose is 6-2 in its last eight Sunday games.
Las Vegas
The Golden Knights are 21-4 in their last 25 Sunday games. Las Vegas is 7-3 in its last 10 games as a home favorite.
Prediction:
Las Vegas has been fantastic at home since entering the league and this line seems about accurate, but let’s not dismiss the fact the Sharks’ offense can carry them in any game. Expect Jones to bounce back with a better effort here while he gets plenty of support around him in a Sharks win. San Jose has played well lately as a road dog and I’m looking for the same tonight.
