The Stars trailed 1-0 through one period, but evened the score with 7:23 left in the second period on an unassisted power play goal by Miro Heiskanen. Predators lackluster in opener
Nashville could not hold onto its slim early lead Thursday night as it lost 3-2 to Dallas in Game 1 of the Western Conference quarterfinals. Roman Josi put the Predators on the board with 7:48 to go in the first period on assists from Ryan Ellis and Nick Bonino. Dallas tied it up in the second and scored two more goals in the third period to go up 3-1 before P.K. Subban scored with 6:36 to play to cut it back to a one-goal game. Assists on the Subban goal went to Brian Boyle and Mattias Ekholm. Pekka Rinne surrendered three goals on 29 shots in the losing effort.

Prediction:
Nashville is one of the favorites to win the Western Conference, but has a tough matchup on its hands in a Stars team equipped with one of the best goalies in the NHL in Bishop. If he continues to be stellar in goal and Dallas can manufacture a few goals, it’s going to put quite a scare into the Predators. If you bet Carolina and Nashville equally as underdogs with only one winning, that’s a profit. If both win, that’s a great day. Take a shot on the dogs here.
