New York Islanders DFS Spin
Semyon Varlamov allowed just one goal on 11 shots in relief Saturday against the New York Islanders. Rookie Ilya Sorokin made the start, but he was a complete disaster, allowing four goals on just nine starts. Varlamov was to get the day off, but instead came on early in the second period. The veteran allowed just one goal on 11 shots. These teams play again Monday, and while it hasn’t been confirmed, it’s a near certainty that Varlamov is in between the pipes for the rematch in Pittsburgh.
Pittsburgh Penguins DFS Spin
Tristan Jarry allowed three goals on 32 shots in Saturday’s 6-3 win over the New York Islanders. Jarry enjoyed an avalanche of goals in the first half of the game, as the Penguins staked him to an insurmountable 5-0 lead through the first 8:21 of the second period. You can blame him for letting up in intensity just a little, as he allowed three straight goals to Mathew Barzal, Anthony Beauvillier and Jordan Eberle. However, he was never in danger of losing this one. Jar Jar Wins and the Pens are back in action Monday night against the Isles.
Islanders vs. Penguins Prediction
The Islanders are just 1-5 in their last six meetings with the Penguins and are 16-35-2 in their last 53 games in Pittsburgh. The favorite in this series is also 5-2 over the last seven meetings while the home team has cashed in four of the last five meetings. Finally, the Penguins are 4-1 in their last five games overall and 7-2 in their last nine games coming off a win.
