Habs, Pens current East favorites
LAS VEGAS, NV (TheSpread) – The NHL has hit its All-Star Break and there are plenty of strong contenders in the Eastern Conference. Here is a look at the updated odds to win the East.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Montreal Canadiens and Pittsburgh Penguins are co-favorites to win the East, as each has 9/2 odds. Other short odds to win are the Boston Bruins and Tampa Bay Lightning, who each have 5/1 odds.
Montreal is currently third in the Atlantic Division with 61 points at 29-13-3, which ranks fourth in the East. The Habs have a goal differential of +17.
Pittsburgh is second in the Metropolitan Division with 60 points and a record of 26-12-8. The Penguins are fifth in points amongst all teams in the East. The Pens have a goal differential of +21.
Tampa Bay is leading the Eastern Conference with 64 points and a record of 30-14-4. The Lightning are also leading the Atlantic Division by 1 point and they have a goal differential of +29 which is best of any team in the East.
Boston is fourth in the Atlantic Division with 57 points. The Bruins have a record of 25-16-7 on the year and they are tied for the seventh spot in the East right now. Boston has a goal differential of +5.
