ST. LOUIS (AP) – Sam Bradford already has taken one of Peyton Manning’s NFL rookie quarterback records and is on the verge of nabbing another.
Bradford has been durable, easing doubts about how his surgically repaired throwing shoulder would hold up. He has taken every snap for the St. Louis Rams, who are one win from their first playoff spot since 2004.
Bradford has 335 completions, nine more than Manning had in 1998. He needs to throw only 22 passes in Sunday’s NFC West title showdown at Seattle to eclipse Manning’s record of 575 attempts.
The biggest number of all is what he’s provided for a once woebegone franchise that’s made a six-win improvement from last year’s 1-15 embarrassment.
