EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -An escalator malfunction injured at least five people at Giants Stadium on Saturday night, shortly after the New England Patriots had beaten the New York Giants 38-35 to cap a perfect 16-0 regular season.
It was not immediately clear what caused the problem with the escalator at Gate A, State Police Sgt. Jeanne Hengemuhl said. It apparently stopped without warning and then quickly started up again, causing several people to tumble.
The injured were taken to Hackensack University Medical Center, where they were being treated for unspecified injuries. It was not immediately clear if anyone had been seriously injured, Hengemuhl said.
