ATLANTA (AP) – The Atlanta Falcons lost starting safeties Dwight Lowery and Kemal Ismael by the midway point of the third quarter Sunday against Carolina.
Lowery left with a knee injury in the second quarter. Ishmael hurt his hamstring in the third. Both players were helped off the field.
Dezmen Southward, a third-round draft pick, and Sean Baker, a former practice squad player, replaced Lowery and Ishmael.
It marked the third starting safety the Falcons lost in the last eight days. William Moore’s season ended with a shoulder injury in last week’s win at New Orleans.
