INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -The Colts have deactivated five starters, including Pro Bowl defensive end Robert Mathis and left tackle Charlie Johnson, for Sunday’s game against the New York Jets.
Mathis is out with a quadriceps injury. Johnson (foot) will be replaced by former starting left tackle Tony Ugoh. Kicker Matt Stover is deactivated, giving Adam Vinatieri his first action since Oct. 11.
Indy signed quarterback Drew Willy from the practice squad. He is the third quarterback. Indy’s other inactives are cornerback Jerraud Powers, linebacker Clint Session, receiver Pierre Garcon and defensive end Keyunta Dawson.
The Jets have deactivated defensive linemen Ropati Pitoitua and Howard Green, linebackers Kenwin Cummings and Marques Murrell, guard Matt Slauson, quarterback Kevin O’Connell and running back Chauncey Washington.
