Last week, RB Laurence Maroney (166 carries, 789 yards) had personal-best 156 yards rushing, including longest run of career (59 yards). Maroney has two straight 100-yard games after just one in his first 10. ... WR Jabar Gaffney has scored in four of last five outings and has career-high five TDs. ... WR Wes Welker (1,053 yards receiving, 8 TDs) tied team record with 101st catch last week. ... Patriots are tied for NFL lead with 239 points allowed. ... New York tied team record by clinching third consecutive playoff berth last week. Giants are locked into No. 5 seed, will travel to Tampa Bay in first round and could rest several injured regulars this week. ... Giants rushed for 291 yards last week, most since 1959. RBs Brandon Jacobs (145 yards rushing) and Ahmad Bradshaw (151 yards, including 88-yard TD run) both had career highs. ... QB Eli Manning needs one TD pass to join Phil Simms as only Giants with three straight seasons of 3,000 yards passing and 20 TDs. Manning is averaging 177.3 yards passing with three TDs and four INTs over past four games. ... WR Plaxico Burress had one catch for 6 yards last week and needs 59 yards for third 1,000-yard season. ... Giants lead NFL with 52 sacks, while New England is second with 46.
