FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) -The New England Patriots released linebacker Chad Brown on Thursday.
Brown, who played two games in his 15th NFL season, was cut two days before the Patriots try to complete a 16-0 regular season at the New York Giants.
Brown, 36, had spent his first four seasons with Pittsburgh and the next eight with Seattle before playing 15 games for New England in 2005. Last season, he returned to the Steelers and played eight games.
This year, the Patriots released him on Sept. 1, re-signed him to play in the second game against San Diego on Sept. 16 and released him on Oct. 10. He returned Nov. 27 and played in only one more game, a 20-10 win over the New York Jets on Dec. 16.
